Villa Lontana is a non-profit project space dedicated to exploring the intersections of ancient and contemporary practices in visual arts and sound. Initiated in 2018 from the archaeological collection of the Santarelli Foundation, the project develops a layered archaeology encompassing exhibitions, publications, screenings, artist editions, and sound projects through its label Villa Lontana Records.
Villa Lontana’s program takes place between a brutalist garage and a 18th-century Italian garden at Ponte Milvio, alongside regular collaborations with Italian and international institutions. The project is run by Vittoria Bonifati and was founded in 2018 in collaboration with Jo Melvin.
Villa Lontana Records focuses on archival and unreleased material from the avant-garde electronic scene and contemporary sound-art. The label is run in collaboration with Michele Ferrari.
